This exhibition of recent paintings, drawings and sculptures includes works that abstract the notion of physical symbols and signs, focusing primarily and obsessively on hands and and fingers as placeholders for communication.
Sophie Lourdes Knight is an American-born British artist living and working in Oakland, California. She studied at the Wimbledon College of Art in London and California College of the Arts in the San Francisco Bay Area. Using the body as a primary source of inspiration she distorts and flattens the visual plane, carving out a crawlspace between direct references to the body and complete abstractions of it into a space that creates a narrative-less conversation about the act of painting itself. www.sophielourdesknight.com Comments are closed.
